The inaugural Runner’s World and Bicycling Dirt Festival was all about dirt, mud, off-road sports and fun in the sun. For many it was their first trail running or mountain biking event and for others still, it was a challenging day, riding 100/40 or 20km in the heat. Plenty of iced tea and water on the route as well as the pom pom dancers on the finish line kept the athletes going as they headed out for their 4km or 12km trail run or their 20km, 40km or 100km mountain bike.

Spur and Nando’s as well as SAB provided the after-exercise refreshments and the kids had a blast on the jumping castle and mobile Playstation unit. We hope that we will see you back again at our next Dirt Festival!

Some feedback received so far:

First race ever...did the 40km. Was tough but I made it. The event was brilliant from an organisation point of view. It was an amazing day! Well done chaps! Rene

This was my first MTB race (did the 20km), congratulations to the organisers, it was a GREAT event, I will most definitely be back. Johan

It should have been called the mud festival, loved it!!! The 40km was brilliant, technical sections, long fast down hills and single tracks amazing. Thanks for a lovely ride!! Janco
